How to successfully manage the exam period?
Exam period often brings stress, sleepless nights, and a large dose of caffeine for many students. Therefore, we bring you several tips that will help you handle this demanding period with more ease.
Plan and focus on what’s important
Take a look at your exam schedule and plan in advance how much material you want to cover each day to ensure you can go through everything within the given time. Of course, sometimes there may be limited time available. In such cases, it is important to prioritize the most important topics to focus on.
Limit distractions
We all know it – our phone rings, we check it, and suddenly we’ve wasted half an hour of our time. Try turning off social media notifications while studying and truly concentrate on doing it. If you are distracted by roommates or anything else at your dorm or home, it is advisable to find a comfortable place outside, in the library, in a café, or anywhere else where you feel at ease.
Study when you have energy
Some people are early birds and are most productive in the morning, while others are the opposite. Plan your study sessions according to your energy levels.
Take breaks
Breaks and rest are just as important as studying itself. During breaks, you get to store all the information in your brain, and when studying for the whole day, they become a necessity.
Revise what you have learned
Revise, revise, revise. No further commentary needed 🙂
Don’t forget about quality food, hydration, and exercise
Many students tend to neglect these basic pillars during the exam period. It is not uncommon for them to reach for caffeinated drinks when lacking energy. Although caffeine can provide a temporary boost, it is important to take care of your health in a way that will stimulate your brain and lead to better results.
Contact classmates and study together
Even reaching out to a friend who will be taking the exam with you can provide some encouragement, and you can motivate each other. Additionally, explaining the topic to the other person will help you verify your own understanding.
Get enough sleep the day before the exam
A golden and proven advice in the end. Students often cram the day before the exam and neglect sleep as a result. However, it is important to avoid this. Not only will you have difficulty remembering much by the morning, but you also won’t be as attentive during the exam. It is recommended to have 7-8 hours of quality sleep.
